Who can foster?
- Adults with a secure, stable home environment
- Able to commit time to settling and basic training
- Other pets should be vaccinated; dogs usually neutered
Home setup checklist
- Safe, enclosed garden; baby gates to create calm zones
- Crate or quiet space, comfy bed, bowls, leads, ID tag
- Cleaning supplies, chew toys, and a non‑slip mat
First week routine
- Keep things quiet; short walks; let the dog decompress
- Consistent feeding and toilet schedule; reward calm behaviour
- Limit visitors; gradual introductions to resident pets
Vet care and costs
Rescues typically cover routine vet costs and provide guidance. Keep receipts and follow the coordinator’s instructions.
